In continuation to the India Future of Office Survey 2021, December 2021, and 2022 India Office Occupier Survey, July 2022, CBRE conducted another round of office occupier interactions in Q1 2023. Our most recent survey revealed the following key themes:

  • Business sentiments: Business conditions improved significantly post the pandemic. However, global macro headwinds remain a concern for corporates in the short term.
  • Hybrid working: Utilization rates improved as compared to previous surveys as RTO plans were ramped up. Hybrid working models continued to be prevalent but shifted towards more days in the office. Occupiers’ inclination towards full-time office-based working also rose significantly.
  • Portfolio strategies: Occupiers’ long-term outlook for real estate portfolio expansion remained positive. Their short-term strategies continued to be focused on retaining existing spaces, agility and efficiency.
  • Workplace transformation & employee experience: Occupiers displayed a greater emphasis on workplace transformation & employee experience to attract more employees back to the office. Developers’ building offerings would support occupiers in facilitating hybrid working and RTO through experience, amenities & services, facilities management, administrative support, sustainability and technology. Wellness and flexibility would drive occupiers’ employee experience strategies.
  • View on ESG: In light of the upcoming regulations for regular and standardized ESG reporting, occupiers’ ESG priorities continued to evolve.
