The Industrial and Logistics (I&L) sector witnessed a sharp rebound in 2021 with continued demand from 3PL and e-commerce players and completion of investment-grade developments. Below are a few broad trends that were observed in the I&L sector in the year gone by:

  • I&L space take-up accelerated during the year, rising by about 39% y-o-y to cross 28 million sq. ft.
  • Bangalore and Delhi-NCR dominated leasing activity; together, these cities accounted for more than 44% of the overall space take-up in 2021.
  • 3PL firms accounted for more than 40% of the leasing activity in 2021, followed by e-commerce, engineering & manufacturing and retail players.
  • Supply addition rose by 38% y-o-y to touch 27 million sq. ft. during the year; development completions by prominent domestic and global organized developers grew from 24% in 2020 to 40% in 2021.
  • Delhi-NCR and Chennai drove supply addition, accounting for about 56% of project completions.
