Akihisa (Aki) Sato joined CBRE's operations in Japan in 2005 as Director for the firm’s Office Services team. Aki is one of Tokyo’s leading brokers and has more than 23 years of experience in commercial real estate. He is responsible for providing consultancy, leasing and brokerage services to international owners and occupiers.
Currently, he heads the Tenant Representation Unit, leveraging his broad experience and vast networks with landlords to provide his clients with the best solution for their real estate needs. His guiding principle is to ensure a safe and sound transaction from all aspects of the deal, while keeping a competitive edge in achievable rents and leasing conditions.
During his real estate career, Aki has single-handedly executed more than 400 transactions and assisted in an additional 600 transactions covering office, retail, warehouses, distribution centers and land dispositions.
Aki started his real estate career with Ikoma Corporation (now a fully owned company of CBRE) in its Osaka head office as an office leasing broker. He was also stationed in the firm’s Nagoya and Fukuoka offices, where he was involved in the management of the office as well as the brokering of logistics properties. He was transferred to the Tokyo office in 1998 to lead the Facility Management department, and was subsequently promoted to area manager, responsible for the firm’s six branches in Tokyo. One of his main responsibilities was the structuring and implementation of the company database, which currently covers more than 100,000 properties nationwide.
Aki was then promoted to Director of the Leasing Development Unit, covering the greater metropolitan area of Tokyo and was responsible for brokerage services of Class A office buildings in and around Tokyo for both domestic and international firms.
